More Profitable Than Stocks, Real Estate, or Savings

If you put $10,000 into a savings account at 5% annual interest, in a year you’d have $10,500.
In the stock market, you might earn 10–15% per year (if everything goes well).
In real estate, you could see 5–8% appreciation annually—after years of waiting.
Now let’s compare that to sustainability:
👉 For the client:
A sustainable building can cut operating costs by 20–30% in energy and water.
For a mid-sized commercial project, that’s hundreds of thousands in savings over a decade.
On top of that, certified green buildings sell or lease at a 10–20% premium compared to conventional properties.
👉 For the professional:
Experts with sustainability certifications routinely charge 20–40% higher fees—and win projects others can’t even compete for.
So if your average project is $50,000, with sustainability expertise you could earn $70,000 or more for the same job.
Meaning: a single contract can generate more ROI than years of passive investments.
And that’s exactly what the UGREEN Pass gives you:

Superwood: A Wood Stronger Than Steel

Credit: InventWood
What if the solution for stronger and more sustainable buildings lay in a material we’ve know for centuries, now with radically improved performance and environmental impact ?
Meet Superwood, the result of an academic breakthrough turned commercial technology. It was developed at the University of Maryland by Professor Liangbing Hu and his team, and is now produced by the Maryland-based startup InventWood.
What makes Superwood so special ?
The innovation happens in two stages:
Chemical delignification: a partial removal of lignin (and hemicellulose) through immersion in mild solutions, while preserving the strongest cellulose fibers
Hot compression: the material is desified (down to about 20-25% of its original volume). This realigns the cellulose fibers and greatly increases hydrogen bonding, resulting in wood up to 50% stronger than structural steel — yet much lighter. its strengh-to-weight ratio is roughly 10 times higher than steel.
Beyond its remarkable strength, Superwood is also fire-resistant (Class A rating), waterproof, resistant to pests and rot-all while maintaining a natural look and enhanced aesthetics.
Why does this matter for the future of construction ?
The construction sector is one of the largest global carbon emitters. Superwood emerges as a sustainable, high-performance alternative capable of replacing steel and concrete in many applications. By combining structural strength, lightness, low environmental impact, and aesthetic value, it points toward a clear path to large-scale production

ESG: Trend Or Value Strategy

Credit: Esfera Energia
Is sustainable investing just a passing fad ? Or are we witnessing a silent revolution in how we assess risk, return, and purpose ?
More than an acronym: a strategic lens
The ESG approach offers a broader perspective on companies, going beyond profit and turning the “ethical banner” into a smarter, long-term decision-making criterion.
The 3 pillars of ESG:
Environmental (E): how does the company impact the environment ? Emissions, water usage, waste, climate change — everything counts.
Social (S): labor relations, diversity, human rights and community impact.
Governance (G): management structure, transparency, ethics, anti-corruption practices.
In finance, this translates into stronger risk analyses. During crises (as we saw during the pandemic), companies with solid ESG practices came out ahead.
ESG Performance vs. Traditional Funds
When putting both side by side, it’s hard to declare a single “winner.” But in most cases, ESG funds don’t lag behind — and often outperform traditional ones, especially in risk-adjusted returns.
→ In Europe, 60% of sustainable funds outperformed their traditional counterparts over the last decade;
→ In the U.S., in 2023, ESG funds returned 12.6% compared to 8.6% from conventional funds;
→ The S&P 500 ESG Index outperformed the S&P 500 by 15% over the last 5 years.
→ In Brazil, ESG equity funds grew 41% between 2022 and 2025, compared to 21.9% for the overall market.
Still, many investors prioritize immediate returns, especially in fixed income. The reason ? High interest rates and risk aversion — but this short-term view could come at a high cost in the future.
The Greenwashing Challenge
The main obstacle to ESG growth is greenwashing — the notorious “looks sustainable, but isn’t”. Companies and funds branding themselves as green without meaningful practices.
85% of investors already distrust ESG reports. Without standardization, it’s increasingly difficult to distinguish authenticity from marketing.
The Counterattack: Anti-ESG Movements
In the U.S., an “anti-ESG” movement pushes back against socio-environmental investment criteria. Their justification ? Many argue financial return should be the only priority.
But reality tells another story: “anti-ESG” funds have lost momentum, while ESG continues to consolidate globally as the new standard. Europe, for example, is moving firmly toward full regulation and transparency
And in construction, where does ESG fit in ?
If you work with projects, constructions or materials, ESG principles aren’t just about finance — they’re directly tied to your daily decisions:
Conscious supplier selection;
Designs with lower environmental impact;
Diverse, well-managed teams;
Transparent, ethical processes.
→ ESG is a lens that helps build more resilient and valuable businesses. The sooner you bring this logic into your projects, the further ahead you’ll be.
Ready to turn this vision into action ?
The future belongs to those who understand impact, value and sustainability.
But knowledge alone isn’t enough — you need tools, connections, and practical know-how.
That’s exactly why UGREEN Pass is what you and your company need! It gives you access to courses, content, tools, and benefits to truly apply sustainability in your professional day-to-day.
With UGREEN Pass, you don’t just follow transformation — you lead it!
